Michael Sullivan's career encompasses a wide range of experience, including
academic research and university teaching, experience on the client side
as a manager of research for a major corporation and, prior to co-founding
The Strategic Counsel, 10 years as a senior executive with Decima
Research.
He is deeply interested in social policy and issues, arts marketing and
audience development, which are common elements in all his work. Over
the past several decades, Michael has made public-policy research his
specialty, and has undertaken a number of landmark studies. These include
the largest study to date of the cultural industries in Canada and substantial
studies for the philanthropic sector. He has also undertaken a number
of corporate-image studies.
Michael's enthusiasm, expertise and insight as a researcher bring considerable
resources to clients. Such organizations as Canadian Blood Services, Lincoln
Center for the Performing Arts in New York City, the Performing Arts Center
of Los Angeles County and the United Way have all benefited from having
his informed and in-depth input on projects. He is also a frequent commentator
on public-opinion issues and a guest speaker at many conferences.
At home, when he's not busy with his two young children, Michael likes
to sharpen his perspective on the present by reading about the future
in science-fiction novels, and relax by listening to a wide variety of
music, including jazz and classical.
